The shop is entirely run by unpaid volunteers for the benefit of the community.
Beckbury Community Shop Limited currently has 83 shareholders who, together with private donations, have invested over £7,000 in the shop. The Princes Countryside Fund have provided us with a significant grant and we have been supported in setting up the shop by the Plunkett Foundation. Local businesses Pleydell Smithyman architects, DWT Construction and Retail Furniture Ltd have been vital in the planning and construction of the building.
Our shareholders are members of a Community Benefit Society under the terms of the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014. They can vote at AGMs so can have a say in how the shop is run.
